2014 BMW i8 Production Prototype

It is official: Testing on the 2014 BMW i8 Production Prototype has begun. The general shape of the i8 stays true to the concept, from the layering on the deck lid and spoiler to the skirting. It is hard to tell if the production model will get upward angled opening doors. In this production test mule the wheels are wider and more conventional then the concept. Here are some vital stats, this can change anytime between now and 2014.

• 3-cylinder Gasoline engine (164kw) in rear with i3's electric motor (limited to 96 kW) in front
• 550 Nm (300Nm Gasoline engine + 250 Nm electric motor)
• 3 driving modes - Electric, Gas, or both engines at once
• 1,480 kg
• 0-100kph (62mph): 4.6 seconds
• Top speed: 250kph (limited)
• 2.7 L/100km fuel economy
• 35km pure electric range
• 4 seater
• 50:50 distribution

THIS JUST IN: 2013 BMW M6 Spied

This is not breaking news if you are a fan of our Facebook page. Here is a picture of the new F13 2013 BMW M6 Cabriolet spied uncovered at a BMW storage yard. Looking at the red sticker on the side windows and the unusually high sitting ride height, this M6 is still in transport mode. The flared fenders, M-Scuttle and the quad exhaust setup gave it away.
